A popular Charlie Chaplin silent movie from 1914 and a live pianist will highlight the “Silent Movie Night Under the Stars” this evening in the Olivas Adobe courtyard.
The historical courtyard will be transformed into an outdoor movie theater for the event, co-sponsored by KVEN Radio and the city of Ventura Department of Community Services.
The feature film is “Tillies Punctured Romance,” starring Charlie Chaplin and the Keystone Kops.
History and highlights of silent film will be discussed by Irwin Drumbrill of Warner Bros. studios and two comedy short films will be shown before the feature presentation. Pianist Janet Sendell will play along with the comedy shorts, giving the production a true silent movie feel.
Tickets can be bought at Ventura City Hall. Adult tickets cost $3, children 12 and under get in for $2 and children under 5 will be admitted free.
