CRENSHAW / HYDE PARK : Toxic-Waste Cleanup Goes Door-to-Door
- Share via
The city Bureau of Sanitation is operating its Mobile Hazardous Household Waste program in the Crenshaw/Hyde Park area Thursday through Saturday, going door to door to collect potentially hazardous waste materials.
The “Hazmobile” will allow residents to safely dispose of toxic wastes such as household cleaners, auto products and batteries, pesticides, herbicides, paint products and old medicines.
Residents must call the sanitation bureau at 1-(800)-98-TOXIC to make an appointment for pickup.
Councilwoman Ruth Galanter, whose 6th District includes Hyde Park and the south Crenshaw area, said she encourages constituents to comb their garages, cupboards and medicine cabinets for hazardous materials.
“Too often, toxic waste goes into our sewer, storm drain system and landfills,” she said. “We have to protect our families as well as our environment.”
