About 2,000 motorcyclists are expected to participate Sunday in the Lorenzo Lamas Second Annual “Ride for Life” from Newhall to Lake Casitas.
Lamas, the star of “Renegade” on Fox TV, will lead the ride, which begins at 10 a.m. at Valencia Plaza, 24508 Lyons Ave., Newhall, winds along California 126 and up through the Ojai Valley on California 150 before arriving at the lake 70 miles away.
Cyclists pay $30 per person to participate in the ride, which includes a barbecue lunch with live music and entertainment at the lake. Profits go to the World Children’s Transplant Fund, which provides donor organs for children.
Entertainment includes Lamas’ TV sidekick, Brandscombe Richmond, and his band, the Renegade Posse. A second set will be performed by Texas Flood. Comedians will also be on hand, along with Ojai-area vendors selling everything from food to motorcycle paraphernalia.
Organizers encourage those interested to sign up in advance, as the 2,000 slots for the event may sell out, said Dana Tkac, ride coordinator and executive director of the World Children’s Fund.
If slots are still available, participants can register from 8 to 10 a.m. the morning of the ride at the starting site.
