PALMDALE — The Antelope Valley Mall offered a $2,500 reward Wednesday for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who shot to death a 16-year-old boy July 5 outside the shopping center.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said Efrain Pablo Brito of Palmdale was fatally wounded during an argument with other youths in the mall’s parking lot.
Last month, investigators identified the gunman as Adolfo Real Jr., 23, of Palmdale and obtained a warrant for his arrest.
Sheriff’s homicide Lt. Ray Peavy said Real remained at large Wednesday.
In a prepared statement, Antelope Valley Mall representatives said they are offering the reward “to help facilitate the legal process and to send a message to the community that we will not tolerate violent acts in our community without doing our civic duty to help stop them.”
“It is our wish that this cash reward will help speed the resolution of this tragic incident,” the statement said.
Brito was a 10th-grade student at Littlerock High School. He was believed to be the first person to die as a result of a shooting at the shopping center, which will be 4 years old next month.
