Coach: Sue Harrison (2nd year).
1993: 14-4, 8-2 in South Coast League; lost to Corona del Mar, 10-8, in first round of Division I playoffs.
Key returners: Laura Ruben, Sr., didn’t lose a set last year until Southern Section quarterfinals, will play No. 1 singles; Sarah Jarrett, Sr., didn’t lose a doubles set last year in league, but her partner, Cheri Ota, is gone. Jarrett will likely play No. 1 doubles with junior Lisa Panique; Julie Lighthipe, Jr., will probably play singles; Tina Barger, So., will play doubles with sophomore Karen Vigen.
Key newcomers: Sarah Luckey, Fr., a consistent player who could play singles or doubles; Christina Mansour, Jr.; Melissa Walker, So.
Outlook: With Ruben and Jarrett back for their senior seasons, Harrison has one of the county’s best singles players and best doubles players. The Titans’ success might depend on how their No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams come along. “If my newcomers pull through, we’ll definitely be better than last year,” she said. “It’s a good combination this year. They’re all friends and there doesn’t seem to be a negative factor like there was last year.”
