Weekend TV : A New Season for Several Top Series

Some of TV viewers’ favorite series return with a flourish this weekend, including CBS’ “Murder, She Wrote,” starring Angela Lansbury, Sunday at 8 p.m. on Channels 2 and 8.
Tonight, NBC offers two season-opening episodes of “Empty Nest,” beginning at 8 p.m., and also “Sisters,” at 10 on Channels 4, 36 and 39.
CBS’ “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman,” starring Jane Seymour, starts anew at 8 p.m., followed by “Hearts Afire” at 9:30 p.m. and “Walker, Texas Ranger” at 10 p.m. ABC counters with the season premiere of “The Commish” at 10 p.m. on Channels 7, 3, 10 and 42.
On Sunday, Nickelodeon’s “Rocko’s Modern Life” begins a new season at 5:30 p.m.
