48 Semifinalists Named in Merit Scholarships

Forty-eight Westside high school seniors have been named semifinalists in the 1995 National Merit Scholarship program. They will compete with about 15,000 other semifinalists nationwide for the 6,700 scholarships scheduled to be awarded in the spring.
The semifinalists were selected based on their scores on the 1993 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Finalists will be chosen in the spring and will be eligible for a wide range of scholarships, including 2,000 National Merit Scholarships, which are worth $2,000 each.
