CAMARILLO : Signal Approved for Busy Intersection

In an attempt to ease rush-hour traffic through a southeast Camarillo intersection, the City Council has approved spending nearly $85,000 to install a signal at the site.

The traffic signal will be installed at the intersection of Dawson Drive at Petit Street, said Tom Fox, the city’s traffic engineer.

The council unanimously approved the expenditure at its meeting last week.

Fox said the new signal will go a long way toward relieving morning and late-afternoon traffic congestion in the area.

The bid of $84,738 by the Ventura-based Taft Electric Co. was accepted and certified by the council as being the lowest. Construction on the new signal is expected to get under way shortly, officials said.
