Trio Spark Antelope Valley

RIDGECREST — You might think Walker, Shrout and Lewis sounds like a good name for a law firm. But for the Antelope Valley High football team, they spelled the difference in a 20-6 victory over Burroughs in the Golden League opener for both teams Friday at Burroughs.
Sophomore defensive back Tony Walker was the first to make his presence felt. After Burroughs (3-3) had driven to the Antelope Valley five-yard line on the game’s opening series, Walker dropped Burro running back DeMario Brown for back-to-back losses. A 28-yard field-goal attempt then failed.
Senior kicker Chad Shrout then booted a wind-aided 64-yard punt that pinned the Burros at their own six. A few minutes later, Shrout gave Antelope Valley (3-2) a 3-0 lead on a 37-yard field goal and added another with three seconds left before the half for a 6-0 cushion.
Jermaine Lewis, who averaged under 70 yards rushing going into the game, had 121 yards in 23 carries and scored twice.
