Safety Components International Inc.: The Costa Mesa manufacturer of automotive air bags and ordnance components reported profit of $346,000, or 8 cents a share, for the second fiscal quarter, contrasted with a net loss of $798,000 for the same period in the prior year. Sales for the quarter ended Sept. 30 increased 86% to $10.8 million from $5.8 million. Profit for the first half reached $653,000, or 17 cents a share, contrasted with a net loss of $811,000 for the same period in the prior year. Sales doubled to $19.5 million from $9.6 million.
