Mail-in registration is due Friday for those wishing to take the state’s high school proficiency exam this year.
A certificate of proficiency, which is equivalent to a diploma from a California high school, will be granted to those who pass the exam.
Anyone 16 or older, whether enrolled in school or not, may take this exam, which is scheduled for Nov. 19 at 34 sites throughout the state.
Those younger than 16 may also take the exam, provided they have completed at least one semester of 10th grade.
People under 18 who pass the exam must have parental permission in order to leave school before their scheduled graduation.
In Orange County, the exam will be given at Savanna High in Anaheim and Corona del Mar High in Newport Beach.
Information kits and registration forms are available at public and private high schools and public libraries.
