BYU Holds Off San Diego State, 35-28

PROVO, Utah — Fullback Hema Heimuli rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns to lead No. 23 Brigham Young to a 35-28 victory Thursday over San Diego State.
Heimuli also caught six passes for 63 yards and one touchdown as BYU (9-2, 6-1 in the Western Athletic Conference) remained in a first-place tie with Colorado State.
The Aztecs fell to 4-6, 2-5.
After trailing, 35-14, with 14:39 left, the Aztecs scored twice to make it close. After scoring their last touchdown with four minutes, they decided against the on-side kick and BYU ran out the clock.
