PREP ROUNDUP : Eagles Win on Late Goal by Saunders

Shawn Saunders scored the winning goal with about a minute left to give Santa Margarita a 2-1 victory over University in the Irvine boys’ soccer tournament.
University (3-1-1) took a 1-0 lead in the first half, but Saunders tied it with his first goal, about one minute into the second half.
Santa Margarita (4-0) faces Saddleback in the next round Wednesday.
In other tournament games:
Saddleback 4, Corona del Mar 1--Saddleback took a 1-0 halftime lead and then scored three goals in the second half for the victory. Carlos Viscaino, Oswaldo Viscaino, Orlando Scaso and Cesar Flores each scored for Saddleback.
Newport Harbor 3, Laguna Beach 1--Alessio Smith had two goals and an assist for Newport Harbor (5-0).
In the Irvine girls’ tournament:
Los Alamitos 3, Trabuco Hills 2--Ali Ponce scored twice for Los Alamitos (3-0).
In nonleague girls’ soccer:
Costa Mesa 7, Garden Grove 1--Tasea Brown scored four goals to lead Costa Mesa (2-1). Teammate Heather Brackett added two and Jessica Schroeder had one.
