GLENN BUSCH
Orange, Sr.
The leader of the county’s top-ranked team won the Century League title. Runner-up at the Orange County Championships, finished 12th in the Section Division I-A finals. Ran 15:45 in the section final, the county’s third-best time overall.

CHUCK GATCHELL
La Habra, Sr.
Led his team to the State championships with a fourth-place finish in the Section Division III-AA finals. Finished fifth at the Orange County Championships, then was runner-up in Freeway League finals to fellow first-team member Garrett Jensen.

GARRETT JENSEN
Sunny Hills, Sr.
The Freeway League champ came on strong at the end. After a disappointing 17th-place finish at the county championships, was third in the Section Division II-AA race (15:40). Followed with eighth-place finish in State Division II race.

JOEL OROZCO
Santa Ana Valley, Sr.
Earned first-team honors for the second year in a row. Second to Busch in in Century League finals, was the county’s second-fastest runner at both the Dana Hills and Mt. SAC invitationals. Seventh at the Orange County Championships.

ADALBERTO SANCHEZ
Capistrano Valley, Sr.
The county champion went undefeated against area competition. Winner of the South Coast League for the third consecutive year, Sanchez finished second in the Section Division I-A race, then fifth in the State Division I final.

BRIAN SLINGSBY
Corona del Mar, Sr.
Caught fire at year’s end, storming to victory in the Sea View League meet in 14:49. Ran 15:25 in the Section Division III-A finals to finish second, leading the Sea Kings to the State meet in the process. Was 11th at the county championships.

ROSS VENOOK
Woodbridge, Jr.
A mid-season injury barely slowed the upperclassman. Burst onto the scene with a third-place finish at the county championships. Led the Warriors to a 5-0 dual-meet record, racing to fourth-place finish in the Sea View League finals.

RICK MARTINEZ
Coach of the Year
Mater Dei
The third-year coach led his senior-laden team to the South Coast League title and a second-place finish at the Section Division II-AA finals. The Monarchs finished fourth in the State Division II finals.
