Sicilian Story

I enjoyed “Blood and Watermelon” (Nov. 13) by Rita Giordano. Ms. Giordano shares the same surname as my “nonna” (grandmother), although my nonna was Sicilian. I couldn’t help but wonder if Ms. Giordano’s nonna would turn over in her grave if, after all, her bloodline was Sicilian--”the wild land of wild people”--and not from the north “land of Italian kings.”
