The San Fernando Valley branch of the National Assn. for the Advancement of Colored People will hold its annual fund-raiser and awards banquet Thursday.
“It’s our only fund-raiser of the year. And at the same time it honors the folks who have made contributions to minorities,” said the Rev. Zedar Broadous, branch president.
On hand for the event, which will take place at the Burbank Airport Hilton hotel, will be the interim director of the national NAACP, Earl Shinholster.
Among those who will receive awards are David Fulton, a professor at Cal State Northridge, and Mother Ada Robinson, who has spent the last 10 years helping feed the poor and homeless in the Los Angeles area.
