Milton Pitts; White House Barber for Four Presidents

Milton Pitts, 82, who cut and styled the hair of four presidents. Working out of a small barbershop in the White House, Pitts cut the hair of Presidents Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan and George Bush as well as other government VIPs. He also maintained a public shop near the Executive Mansion for 27 years. He interrupted his White House service during the Jimmy Carter Administration after he found himself paired with two imported hairstylists. He returned to cutting presidential hair after Reagan took office in 1981. It was Pitts who assured reporters that Reagan’s hair, dark for a man in his 70s, was not dyed, as many had speculated.
