VICTORVILLE--Jewels, minerals and other treasures are showcased at the Gem Faire, Jan. 13-15 at the San Bernardino County Fairgrounds, 14800 7th St. Noon-7 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday; 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. OJAI--Relive history at the second annual Ojai Civil War Re-enactment, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Jan. 14-15 at Lake Casitas. Tactics and maneuvers used during the Civil War are demonstrated by costumed participants. LA JOLLA--Little ones can learn about the ocean and its residents at “Seaside Stories,” 9:30-11 a.m. Jan. 21 or Feb. 18 at the Stephen Birch Aquarium-Museum, 2300 Expedition Way. The program for 4- and 5-year-olds includes storytelling, puppets, marine artifacts and live marine creatures. $13. Advance reservations are required. (619) 534-7523.
AVALON--Attention divers: The 15th annual Underwater Clean-Up Day in Avalon Bay is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Feb. 25. Garbage from the bay is collected and recycled, and awards are given out in various trash categories. Festivities and the awards ceremony follow the dive on the Wrigley Stage in the center of town.
