AND ONE MORE THING: It was one of those good news/bad news weeks recently for New York band D-Generation. Just as it was profiled in a glowing feature in Rolling Stone and its debut album was starting to gain attention, the neo-’70s glam band was dropped by EMI Records in a roster shuffle.

So the band’s show on Tuesday at the Viper Room finds it back where it was before signing with EMI a year and a half ago: hoping to draw the attention of label executives.

“We’ve been getting tons of labels calling us, so in a way it was a good thing,” says singer Jesse Malin. “It’s a chance to start over and learn from our mistakes. It’s frustrating at times, but in the end that means we’ll make a more angry record and that’s what it’s about, channeling frustration into music at the end of the day.”
