Micron Technology Inc. Picks Utah for Semiconductor Plant The Boise, Ida.-based computer chip company said it will build the $1.3-billion facility in Utah County, south of Salt Lake City. The announcement ends a nationwide search for a new manufacturing operation; 3,500 jobs go along with it. Micron said construction on the plant will start this spring. The plant is part of Micron’s expansion plan, announced last fall, which calls for the doubling of its semiconductor manufacturing capacity during the next four years. Micron stock closed at $69, up $1.875 on the New York Stock Exchange.
