Voice Powered Technology Reports Increased Profits

Voice Powered Technology International Inc., a Sherman Oaks-based maker of voice activated electronics products, said its profit for the fourth quarter that ended Dec. 31 was $698,000, up 134% from $298,000 a year earlier. Revenue for the quarter was $8 million, up from $5.3 million in the year-earlier period.

For the full year, earnings were $371,000, compared to a loss of $10.5 million the previous year. Revenues were $17.5 million, up 4% from $16.8 million a year earlier.

The company attributed the quarterly and year-end results to greater sales due to expansion of its product line and the addition of retail stores such as Office Depot to its list of distributors during 1994.
