Disney Begins Selling Time Shares in S.C.: Walt Disney Co. is banking on the Disney name and the allure of Hilton Head, an established vacation spot, to bring customers to its first domestic resort outside of California and Florida. “This is our first and the model for all future (stand-alone) resorts,” Ken May, senior vice president for Disney Vacation Development Inc., said as sales opened for the Hilton Head Island Resort. May refused to say how much the company is investing in the resort, which is to open a year from now. Disney says it will include pools, shops and yacht slips.
