COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Maiben Helps Chapman Win Twice in Florida

Jessamine Maiben was two for three, with a run scored and a run batted in for Chapman in its 4-2 victory over Ithaca (N.Y.) at the Rebel Springs Games Thursday in Orlando, Fla.
Catcher Kathy Donovan also went two for three and had an RBI for Chapman. Maiben had a triple at two RBIs as the Panthers (10-2) beat Wisconsin Stout, 3-0, in another game. Christy Guidorizzi pitched a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts.
In Big West Conference softball:
Long Beach State 4, Hawaii 3--Kristyn Frady hit a home run in the top of the 11th for visiting Long Beach State (9-11, 2-4) late Wednesday in the second game of a doubleheader in Hawaii. Frady had three hits and two runs scored.
Nonconference women’s tennis:
Yale 5, UC Irvine 4--Yale won four singles matches and one doubles match to defeat the Anteaters (1-11). Janet Johnson and Nina Basica won in singles for Irvine. Johnson defeated Cindy Kuragami, 6-2, 6-4, and Basica defeated Tina Anari, 6-4, 6-4.
