Annual Paramedic Fee Is Increased to $24

FULLERTON — Subscribers to the city’s paramedic service will soon be paying $4 more in annual fees.
City Council members unanimously decided this week to increase the $20 annual fee to generate approximately $50,000.
The fee increase is effective May 1.
Subscribers who use paramedic services do not pay the $175 or $275 fee billed to non-subscribers each time they call for emergency aid, city officials said.
Fire Chief Marc Martin said that 60% of the people who are aided by Fullerton paramedics are not subscribers of the fee-for-service program, and only about 50% of those people pay the bill.
