Rommel Butler made two interceptions, returning one 36 yards for a touchdown and another 46 yards to set up a seven-yard scoring run by Bryan Wilkins as Moorpark College beat Chaffey, 25-14, Saturday at Chaffey.
Kerry Miller, Tim Kirksey and Bill Sperry also had interceptions for the Raiders (2-0), who have picked off 10 passes in two games.
Sophomore Bryce Erickson of Chaffey (0-2) connected with Nakia Jenkins on a 59-yard touchdown pass play and ran for a one-yard score, but threw all five interceptions.
The son of Seattle Seahawk Coach Dennis Erickson made his first start since high school.
Moorpark’s Gary Clemons ran one yard for a touchdown to tie the score, 6-6, capping a 70-yard drive that spanned 11 minutes 51 seconds in the first half.
Taj Lewis threw a touchdown pass to Joaquin Evans on a 33-yard play to put the Raiders ahead, 13-6, with 6:25 left in the half.
Butler’s touchdown return extended the lead to 19-6.
