Edward Mann; Cartoonist, Screenwriter, Director

Edward Mann, 72, writer, producer and cartoonist. He began his cartooning career in the 1940s as one of the artists for “Andy Gump” and “Joe Palooka.” In 1952, he had his own strip, “Blade Winter,” in the New York Post and also drew “Dixie Dugan” in the 1950s and ‘60s. He was a co-founder of the original Circle in the Square Theater in New York, and wrote and directed six feature films. In 1983, he produced the Broadway play “Amen Corner,” by James Baldwin. On Sept. 14 of Parkinson’s disease in Los Angeles.
