SEASON AT A GLANCE: Russell is listed as a middle blocker, which hardly does her justice. She excels at blocker, outside hitter, defense and serving, and is Burroughs’ leader by example. The 5-foot-8 Russell, most valuable player in the Foothill League last season, has kept the Indians in the playoff hunt with her steady play.

WEEK AT A GLANCE: Russell had 17 kills against Canyon as the Indians avenged an early-season loss to the Cowboys with a four-game victory. Russell also led Burroughs to a five-game league victory over Hart with 28 kills. “She never fails us,” Coach Linda Murphy said. “She’s been one of our go-to people since the beginning.”
