COLLEGE FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : UCLA : Jordan May Return, Enter Record Books

If senior receiver Kevin Jordan makes it back onto the field Saturday at Tempe against Arizona State, he also has a chance to make yet another entry in the UCLA record book.

Jordan missed last Saturday’s game because of a minor knee injury, but Coach Terry Donahue said he is “encouraged” by Jordan’s improvement this week.

With 2,461 receiving yards as a Bruin, Jordan trails J.J. Stokes, UCLA’s career leader in that category, by only eight yards.

Earlier this season, Jordan surpassed Stokes to become the school’s career leader in receptions.

Three more catches will give Jordan 176, tying him with Hugh Campbell (Washington State, 1960-62) for fourth on the Pacific 10 Conference’s all-time list.

One day after saying that he wouldn’t be shocked if injured linebacker Donnie Edwards (compression fracture of three vertebrae) didn’t play again this season, Donahue said that Edwards on Tuesday had his best practice session since getting hurt Sept. 16. Donahue now says Edwards could play Saturday.
