Weekend TV : Sheldon’s ‘Forever’ to Start Sweeps Month

CBS kicks off the first weekend of television’s November sweeps ratings period with Sidney Sheldon’s two-part hospital drama “Nothing Lasts Forever,” starring Brooke Shields, Gail O’Grady and Vanessa Williams. It airs Sunday and Tuesday nights at 9 on Channel 2.

Cable channels are also offering original fare: Lifetime profiles singer-songwriter Carole King in “Tapestry,” today at 10 p.m.; the Family Channel’s two-part adaptation of the Robert Louis Stevenson classic “Kidnapped,” starring Armand Assante, airs Sunday at 7 p.m. and Monday at 8 p.m., and the Discovery Channel reports on historical China in “Forbidden City: The Great Within,” at 9 p.m. Sunday.

Ross Perot will answer viewers’ calls on C-SPAN’s “Sunday Journal,” at 6:30 a.m.

Colin Powell’s possible presidential candidacy will be a frequent topic on the public-affairs shows.
