MISSION VIEJO — Bryant Wolfsberger rushed for 269 yards and two touchdowns in 22 carries to lead Capistrano Valley Christian to a 34-20 homecoming victory over L.A. Ribet Academy in a Victory League game Friday night at Saddleback College.
With the victory, the Eagles clinched second place in the league and assured themselves a playoff berth.
Capistrano Valley Christian (4-3, 1-1) overcame a 20-12 halftime deficit by running the ball at Ribet. The Eagles ran on 42 of their 47 plays, including all 25 second-half plays.
“We tried to do a few different things that allowed Wayland [Williams] and Bryant to get in the open field and we did things that they weren’t ready for us to do,” Eagle Coach Marty Martin said.
If pounding the ball at them was unexpected, it worked. Williams added 66 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries. He also threw a touchdown pass and and ran in a two-point conversion.
