Cultural Arts Center to Hold Open House

Fresh from its black-tie opening gala, the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center plans to hold an open house Saturday) to show off its charms to the public.
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the public is invited to walk into the center and tour the 292-seat theater, renovated from a 1924 Methodist church at 3050 Los Angeles Ave.
Paintings and sketches by the Simi Valley Art Assn. are on display in the downstairs community room, and the upstairs gallery holds watercolors and drawings by Disney artist Bill Perkins. Visitors can also view backstage areas, including performers’ dressing rooms and the green room.
The Cultural Arts Center’s box office is open from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday. Tickets for all upcoming plays and concerts are on sale, including performances Saturday by rhythm and blues guitarist Alan Thornhill and Sunday by sitar player Aloke Das Gupta.
