SIMI VALLEY : Residents Sought for Gang Task Force

Fighting a rise in vandalism, beatings, drive-by shootings and other gang-related violence, the Simi Valley City Council is seeking three residents to serve on a community gang task force.
The City Council earlier this month approved sweeping anti-gang measures which included forming a community task force to help formulate solutions to the city’s gang problems.
The task force will be made up of 15 people, including council members Barbara Williamson and Paul Miller. It will also include representatives of the Police Department, school district, Youth Council and various religious and community service organizations, who will serve along with the three members of the public.
Those interested must apply by Nov. 29. Applicants will be interviewed on Dec. 5 by Williamson and Miller, and recommendations will be sent Dec. 11 to the full City Council, which will make the appointments. Applications may be obtained at the city manager’s office at Simi Valley City Hall, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road.
