VAN NUYS — A Sun Valley couple was sentenced to perform 150 hours of community service apiece or serve 20 days in jail after pleading no contest to child endangerment, the Los Angeles city attorney’s office said Wednesday.
Juan Vazquez, 33, and Lucita Solorzana, 29, were charged with leaving three of their children, ages 1, 2, and 8, alone in their apartment Oct. 3, officials said.
Van Nuys Municipal Court Commissioner Kirkland Nyby placed the couple on two years probation with the condition that they must complete a parenting education program, officials said.
North Hollywood police officers who were notified by a neighbor found the children huddling under a blanket in a closet at the family’s Hollywood Way apartment, officials said.
