A 44-year-old man who allegedly exposed himself indecently to two schoolchildren Monday later led police on a short pursuit that ended in a cemetery, officials said.
Two children flagged down a police officer about 3:20 p.m. after a man had walked up to them at Handy Elementary School, exposed himself and disappeared, Officer Tammy South said. As the children were describing the incident to police, they saw the man drive by, South said.
Officers chased him down Cambridge Street and then onto Fairhaven Avenue, where he stopped at an apartment parking lot in Santa Ana. The man then abandoned his car and jumped over a wall into Fairhaven Memorial Park. Police found him injured with an ankle broken from the fall.
Glen Montgomery of Sylmar was arrested and taken to Western Medical Center-Anaheim where he was treated for the ankle injury and booked on suspicion of assault with his car, South said.
