World IN BRIEF : EGYPT : Candidate Wounded by Gunman in Cairo

A gunman wounded a prominent Egyptian opposition candidate on the eve of a second round of parliamentary elections. Security sources said the gunman, in a speeding car, shot New Wafd Party candidate Ayman Nour in a Cairo street. Nour, deputy editor of the party newspaper Al Wafd, was hit by one bullet in the right side. He was hospitalized, but his condition was not immediately available.
