Converse Recalls Shoes: The financially ailing maker of basketball and leisure footwear said it will voluntarily replace two of its new sneakers, RAW Energy and RAW Power, because fluid around the heels has been found to leak. Converse Inc., based in North Reading, Mass., said it has received five injury reports and fewer than 300 complaints. The two new basketball shoes use fluid-based cushioning technology. According to the company, the leaks result from a manufacturing defect in the new Accupod system used in the two shoe styles. The shoes can be identified by two silver fluid-filled windows in the forefoot of the sole. Consumers with questions should call Converse at (800) 433-9255.
