PREP SOCCER ROUNDUP : El Dorado, Edison Settle for Tie

Sixth-ranked El Dorado and seventh-ranked Edison tied, 0-0, in a nonleague boys’ soccer game Friday at El Dorado.
Junior Nate Barnard had eight saves for El Dorado (2-0-4) and Jeremy Bender recorded 10 saves for Edison (1-2-2).
In other nonleague boys’ soccer:
Anaheim 2, Westminster 1--Nelson Ramos broke a 1-1 tie with his second goal of the game in the 75th minute for Anaheim (1-1-2).
El Modena 2, Katella 1--Marcelino Palacios scored the winning goal on a breakaway with 10 minutes left in the game. Nick Purdom scored the other goal for El Modena (3-2). Katella is 2-2-1.
El Toro 1, Aliso Niguel 0--Brian Stucker, on an assist from Andy Valdarama, scored for fourth-ranked El Toro (4-1) six minutes into the second-half.
Esperanza 2, Cerritos Gahr 1--Aaron Colacion and Aaron Pugmire scored in the second half to rally Esperanza (6-0) from a 1-0 halftime deficit.
Santa Ana 2, Orange 0--Jose Cadena and Javier Cruz scored for host Santa Ana (4-0).
Valencia 2, Troy 1--Joel Leal, on an assist by Asher Schuler, scored the winning goal for Valencia (1-2-1) midway through the second half. Dan Merrel tied the score for the Tigers in the first half. Oscar Garcia had 21 saves for Troy (1-1).
In the Irvine girls’ soccer tournament:
Esperanza 1, Dana Hills 1 (Esperanza wins on penalty kicks, 4-3)--Shannon Moore’s penalty kick in the shootout won the fifth-place game for Esperanza (4-1-1). Stacy Jarne scored in the second half to tie the score for the Aztecs.
In the first round of the Magnolia girls’ soccer tournament:
Aliso Niguel 7, Western 0--Nicole Basanda scored twice for Aliso Niguel (4-0).
Cypress 2, Anaheim 0--Michelle Woiemberghe and Kim Murphy scored for Canyon (4-2).
Orange 1, Westminster 0--Erin Rodieck scored for Orange (3-1-1).
In pool play of the girls’ soccer Vanguard Cup:
El Modena 7, Van Nuys Grant 0--Nicole Terry scored four of El Modena’s seven goals in the second half. El Modena is 3-1-1.
Mater Dei 4, Danville Monte Vista 2--Katie Ticehurst scored two goals to lead Mater Dei (2-1-1) in pool play.
In nonleague girls’ soccer:
Los Amigos 1, Anaheim 0--Alejandra Garcia scored on assist by Erikah Lastrapes in the 37th minute for Los Amigos (1-2).
Villa Park 3, Savanna 0--Christine Mendez scored two goals for Villa Park (2-3).
