South Bay : Police Get Funds From Liquor Control Board
- Share via
Torrance bars and liquor stores will be monitored more closely for alcohol sales to minors, thanks to a $100,000 grant from the state Department of Alcohol and Beverage Control. The Torrance Police Department will use part of grant to conduct up to 16 operations a year, using underage decoys to enter establishments and attempt to purchase alcohol.
However, Sgt. Ed LaLonde made it clear that before any such operations, much of the grant will be used to educate the community, especially the owners and employees of bars and liquors stores, about the regulations of liquor sales.
LaLonde said all of the city’s 325 licensees for liquor sales will be visited and briefly educated about the alcohol sales laws.
