YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. — An 8-month-old wolf pup, the offspring of wolves relocated to Yellowstone National Park, has been killed by a delivery truck, a spokesman for the park said Wednesday.
The pup, one of nine born this year, was the offspring of a male wolf that had been killed illegally near Red Lodge, Mont., in the spring. Its death Tuesday night leaves 21 wolves in Yellowstone, a park spokeswoman said.
The driver of the delivery truck, who the spokeswoman said was devastated by the accident, is not expected to be charged. There are no lights in the park at night, and wildlife are often near roads.
