Arcuiso “Gus” Bivona; Musician in the Big-Band Era

Arcuiso “Gus” Bivona, 80, clarinet and alto saxophone virtuoso with several of the big bands in the 1930s and 1940s and leader of his own band in the late 1950s. Born in 1915 in New London, Conn., he started his career with the Jimmy Monocco Band, later working as a featured reed soloist with the Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Bunny Berigan, Jan Savitt and MGM Staff orchestras, Les Brown and his Band of Renown and Bob Crosby and his Bobcats. Friday at the Motion Picture and Television Hospital in Woodland Hills.
