Helping La Fenice: The Los Angeles Opera is joining those rushing to the aid of Venice’s historic La Fenice opera house, which burned to the ground on Monday. The L.A. Opera, which hailed La Fenice as playing “a pivotal role in the history of opera,” is asking Southland music lovers to join in the rebuilding effort by making donations to L.A. Opera, earmarked for the La Fenice Fund. Contributions can be left at the Opera Boutique in the lobby of the Music Center’s Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, or can be mailed to L.A. Opera at 135 N. Grand Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90012.
