In honor of Valentine’s Day, the New West Symphony is scheduled to perform the first of a three-part romantic concert series tonight featuring the music of Russia’s most beloved composers.
In addition to compositions by Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky, the concert, “Russian Romance,” will feature a rendition of Oxnard composer Miguel del Aguila’s “Back in Time” and guest artist Daniel Pollack, a well-known pianist.
A Los Angeles native, Pollack began his studies at the age of 4. At 9, he made his debut with the New York Philharmonic. He has performed solo recitals at concert centers worldwide, including London’s Royal Festival Hall, Vienna’s Musikverein, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, New York’s Carnegie Hall and the Los Angeles Music Center.
Tickets for tonight’s 8 o’clock performance at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza are available in person at the box office or at any Ticketmaster outlet.
A second performance will take place at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Oxnard Civic Auditorium. Tickets may be purchased at the box office or by calling (805) 486-2424. For more information, call (805) 643-8646.
