SUN VALLEY — A Los Angeles man was shot and killed Saturday inside a popular Sun Valley nightclub, as dozens of people danced only a few feet away, police said.
Adolfo Montiel Bucio, 37, of Echo Park was pronounced dead at La Sierra Restaurant on San Fernando Road, Los Angeles police said.
An unidentified man walked into the restaurant about 1 a.m. Saturday, fired several shots at Bucio at point-blank range and ran out, according to reports. Bucio, who worked as a security guard, was struck once in the chest. No one else was injured.
Police said some patrons mistook the shots for musical accompaniment.
“Half of them didn’t even realize there was a shooting,” Det. Rocky Sherwood of the North Hollywood Division said. “They thought it was the band playing. It was pretty crowded that night.”
Bucio had worked at the restaurant for only a few months, Sherwood said. He is survived by a wife and three children. No arrests have been made.
