BLOOD CENTER: The USC Blood Center, an on-site blood donor facility in Boyle Heights, opened its doors to welcome community donors this week.
The center provides a convenient site for USC employees, hospital patients and their families, and local donors to give blood for medical procedures at the USC hospitals, Dr. Gary Zeger, donor center medical director, said.
The facility serves patients and physicians of the USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center and Hospital and USC University Hospital, which together require an average of 20 pints of blood per day, Zeger said.
The center is at 2250 Alcazar Street, Suite 136. It operates Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information call (213) 342-5433.
