Mobile Companies Expand Travel Plans

It pays to be on the move in the health-care business. Just ask companies with mobile equipment services.
Medstone International Inc., the Aliso Viejo company that provides mobile equipment for pulverizing kidney stones, says it expects to be operating 10 mobile systems by June, twice the number as of last December.
Medstone is continuing to expand in Western states, including California. But it also recently began serving New York and Texas, which will become jumping-off points for developing routes throughout the Northeast and South Central states.
Alliance Imaging Inc., the Orange-based company that provides mobile diagnostic imaging services, recently purchased privately held Royal Medical Health Services Inc., a Pittsburgh provider of mobile services in Pennsylvania, New York, Virginia and North Carolina.
The purchase added six mobile systems to its fleet of magnetic resonance imaging systems and 20 hospitals to its base of customers.
Alliance also provides imaging services at fixed hospital sites.
