Poulson, Yorke Are Honored

Alleah Poulson of UCLA and Fresno State’s Robyn Yorke were named Monday to the District VIII softball GTE Academic All-America team as selected by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America.
Poulson, who graduated from Irvine High, is a junior sociology major with a 3.44 grade-point average. She helped the Bruins advance to the College World Series, which begins this week in Columbus, Ga., site of the Olympic softball games.
Yorke, from Marina High, is a junior majoring in liberal studies. She has a 3.37 GPA.

Kim Yankowski, a former All-American at North Carolina State, has been named girls’ soccer coach at El Toro High, the school announced Monday.
Yankowski, who helped North Carolina State to three NCAA semifinal appearances, has coached soccer at the college, club and high school level.
