Council Increases Pay of Chief Legislative Analyst

The Los Angeles City Council on Tuesday boosted the salary of its chief legislative analyst by about $18,000.

Ron Deaton, who earns an annual salary of $155,243, is slated for a raise of about $9,000 starting July 1 and another $9,000 increase starting Jan. 1. The boost was made possible by the council’s unanimous decision to change the salary range for the post and put the position in the same pay category as the city’s other top management jobs.

The four managers in the category earn from the $153,384 paid to the head of the Department of Airports to the $173,283 earned by City Administrative Officer Keith Comrie, the city’s top budget and finance officer. All are scheduled for raises of $1,100 to $1,700 in the new budget year that begins July 1.
