Quaker Taps New Ad Agency for Beverages: The company said it will replace the medium-sized Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners with the giant Foote, Cone & Belding of Chicago to handle the advertising for its Gatorade sports drink and its Snapple line of fruit drinks and teas. The move marks another step in Chicago-based Quaker Oats Co.’s attempt to overhaul the Snapple brand, which has been losing money since Quaker bought it for $1.7 billion in December 1994. Quaker has been plowing money into new flavors, packaging and promotion in the last few months in a bid to boost sales. The company last month projected that Snapple will either break even or make a profit this year.
