The Girl Can’t Help It (AMC Sunday at 7:15 a.m.) A press agent (Tom Ewell), a lovelorn gangster (Edmond O’Brien), the apple of his eye (Jayne Mansfield) and a whole brace of heavy-duty ‘50s rock ‘n’ rollers (Little Richard, Fats Domino, etc.), all under the hand of farce master Frank Tashlin. A sleazy little gem from 1956.
Psych-Out (TMC Sunday at 3:40 p.m.) Hippies and runaways in the high summer of Haight-Ashbury. The director, Richard Rush (“The Stunt Man”), and the cast (Susan Strasberg, Jack Nicholson, Dean Stockwell and Bruce Dern) lead you to expect something hipper; however, it did seem right on at the time of its release in 1968. This is basically a cautionary tale for voyeurs, albeit sympathetic.
