CardioVascular Dynamics Patents Catheter

IRVINE — CardioVascular Dynamics Inc. said it received a patent for its catheter that combines balloon angioplasty, drug delivery and blood perfusion technology.
The catheter, which permits an increased flow of blood and drug delivery while the inflated balloon blocks blood flow, gives doctors more time to perform the balloon angioplasty procedure, the company said.
The company expects to begin marketing the devices next year, said Heather Murray, a CardioVascular Dynamics spokeswoman.
